Antarctica is one of the last, most pristine places on planet Earth, and an expedition voyage there is truly the trip of a lifetime. Small expedition ships like the ones we use carry a limited number of passengers, a great benefit because of the flexibility and efficiency offered by small-group travel. Having said that, there are a limited number of cabins on board. If you’re an adventurer interested in traveling to Antarctica solo, you need not worry. With Antarctica21, single passengers have three options: booking a dedicated single cabin, sharing a cabin, or paying a single supplement. Let’s look at each in more detail.Dedicated Single CabinEach of our ships offers a number of dedicated Antarctica cruise single cabins. These cabins offer solo travelers the best value for single accommodation. You can travel in a cabin of your own while paying the lowest rate possible. You will still enjoy the group landings and zodiac tours, shared dining experience and lectures, however, your cabin will be a place for down time and a quiet place to reflect on the extraordinary beauty you've seen throughout the day. You'll also enjoy a single hotel room in Punta Arenas before flying to Antarctica. Note, however, there are only a few dedicated single cabins available and they are in high demand. If you are interested in a single cabin you should make your reservation as early as possible to secure one of those cabins before they sell out.Single SupplementYou may have noticed in our dates and rates mention of a single supplement, which is 85% on top of the double occupancy rate. This supplement applies if you choose to have a double cabin to yourself after all dedicated single cabins have been reserved. This option is available on selected categories of accommodation. Speak to your booking agent to learn more about the options specifically available for your desired departure date.Cabin SharingSolo travelers also have the option of sharing a cabin with another traveller. We will gladly match you with another single traveller of the same gender for the ship portion of your expedition. This is a great option for those who love to meet new people while traveling, who feel their journey is more enriched by meeting new people, or who simply cannot afford to have a single cabin. Whatever your reason, we want to make your dream of visiting the White Continent a reality! Those opting to share a cabin on board the ship will enjoy single accommodation at the hotel in Punta Arenas. There is a small supplement for this depending on which voyage you are selecting and at what time of year. At time of publication of this article, the supplement ranges from US$195 to US$395.If you have any questions or concerns about traveling solo, please don't hesitate to speak with someone in our office or contact your preferred travel agent. And for more information about the single supplement, cabin sharing and cabin options, please contact us.We look forward to having you onboard!
